Marc Bartel is a senior executive search partner specializing in Board, CEO, and C-Suite appointments, with particular expertise in legal, risk, and compliance leadership roles. He leads searches for Boards of Directors, Executive Committees, Non-Executive Directors, Board Chairs, and senior leadership teams, advising organizations on CEO succession, governance, and critical leadership transitions. Marc brings deep experience assessing top executives, board members, and senior legal leaders, ensuring strong capability fit, long-term value creation, and effective board composition.
Previously, Marc led the EMEA Legal, Risk & Compliance and Board & CEO practice at Korn Ferry in Paris, and earlier held the same practice leadership roles at Heidrick & Struggles, where he also served as Managing Partner for France. For more than two decades, Marc has advised organizations and leading global law firms on executive search, leadership assessment, and governance mandates. He has assessed over 120 law firm partners, conducted numerous board evaluations, and led more than 350 senior legal counsel and General Counsel recruitment assignments. He teaches on board governance and dysfunction at Sciences Po in Paris and INADCI.
Earlier in his career, he practiced law in Boston and Paris before serving as Secretary General of the Alliance of European Lawyers, Deputy CEO of Linklaters at age 36, and Director of International Development at Hogan Lovells. Marc holds advanced degrees from Université Lyon III, NYU (LL.M.), and MIT (MBA), is a member of the New York Bar, and has been listed in the French Who’s Who for nearly 15 years.
